Helpful Information
Payment
Please pay a deposit of a third when you book, and the balance at least two months prior to the start of your holiday. If your holiday is made less than two months before the start of your holiday, we ask that you make full payment with your booking.
Pets
We welcome pets as part of the family, but we do need to charge for them. The cost per pet is £20. We ask that they not be allowed on furniture, or left unattended in the cottage, and that they are accompanied at all times outside the cottages. There are sheep in the adjacent paddocks and we also have ducks that potter about.
Arrivals and Departures
We want you to be as comfortable as possible in your cottage and as part of that, we ensure that it is aired and spotless. We need a few hours to achieve that and so we ask that you arrive after 3.00pm. For the same reason, at the end of your holiday, it would help us enormously if you could drag yourselves away by about 10.00am. so that we can prepare for our next visitors. None of this is written in stone, and if you have a reason to arrive at a different time, please let us know and we will try to work around it.
Care of the Property
We make sure that your cottage is spic and span for your stay and we ask that when you go you leave it in the same condition. We realise that breakages can occur as a result of gravity or mishap and we will not expect you to pay for the odd glass that is broken, but please treat the property with care, so that we do not have to ask you to make good any loss incurred from more serious damage.
Cancellation
We hope nothing will prevent you taking your holiday once it is booked, but, unfortunately, things sometimes go wrong! To avoid the risk of losing your money, we recommend that you take out a cancellation insurance. If you need to cancel your holiday we will make every effort to attract another booking. If we can re-let the cottage, we will refund you with a deduction of £50 for administration charges. If the cottage is only re-let for a portion of your holiday period, only that portion will be refunded. If the cottage cannot be re-let, unfortunately, we cannot make a refund.
Smoking
If you are a smoker, we want you to enjoy your stay, but, because the smell of smoke is difficult to remove from the rooms, we ask that you smoke outside.
Access
The cottages were built in the nineteenth and early twentieth century for the farm's shepherds and they retain their special character. The spectacular hillside location means that the land around the farm is all sloping; however, immediately around the cottages it is level.
Your car can be parked at the door of your cottage. Access into Oak and Birch Cottages from the gravelled car parks is all on one level. At Rowan Cottage the access via the sidedoor from the car park is by 9 steps, 110cm (43" inches) wide and 18cm (7" inches) high. The door is 68cm (27 inches) wide. Access via the front door is by 5 steps, 110cm (43 inches) wide and 18cm (7inches) high. The door is 68cm (27 inches) wide
Oak and Birch Cottages are double storey with stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom. Rowan Cottage is single storey.
Because of the age and design of the cottages, they are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users, but may be suitable for those with minor disabilities.
Miscellaneous
The water at Whitelee Holiday Cottages comes from a natural spring. It is passed through filters and UV light and is totally safe to drink – and it’s delicious! Its been passed by the management! Its tested annually by the local Environmental Health Department. Towels, bedding and all heating fuel are included in the price of your holiday. If you need a cot and high chair, please give us advanced warning. Please bring your own bedding for the cot. There is information on places of interest to visit, but, if you need to know anything further, please just ask.
What makes this all worthwhile for us is to know that you have had a truly enjoyable and unforgettable holiday. If anything prevents this, please let us know immediately.
